INDRI

The Indri is the major lemur that we can find today in Madagascar. The adult lemur size is between 57 and 70 cm and its weight goes from 7 to 10 km. The tale's size is only 15 cm. It has got large fingers, and with its fingers it can move easyly on trees. It has got black and white hair. Its face looks like a dog.

It's a diurn animal that it lives in raining forests. Indris make permanent partner, but only female indri takes care of the babies. Female Indri bear offspring every two to three years, with a gestation period of approximately 60 days.

The Indri is an endangered species. The primary threats to its existence are habitat destruction and fragmentation due to slash and burn agriculture, fuelwood gathering, and logging. This kind of destruction occurs even in protected areas.

The Indri is also wiwdely hunted, despite the many oigin myths and traditional taboos which hold is sacred. I wouls like to conclude by saying that e could try to care natural places and monitor the logging because the animals can live better and are not endangered.
